About the Show:
Set on September 12, 2001, the play follows Waverly as she navigates a blind date while anxiously awaiting news of her missing twin sister in NYC – blending humor, coincidence, and unexpected connection in the face of uncertainty.
What to Prepare:
Bring a 1–2 minute contemporary monologue (no pieces from the show), plus headshot & resume.
Callbacks:

Cold reading callbacks will take place on Sunday 5/3/2026 @ 6PM. 

Individuals called back will receive invitation info via email no later than the evening of 5/1/26.

Rehearsals begin mid/late October, with performances running December 4–20, 2026. Evening/weeknight rehearsals + weekend days. Stipend provided.

The creative team is looking for the following:

Stage Manager:  The play’s de facto narrator, The Stage Manager book ends the action of the play, and posits about the nature of free 

Waverly (30s, female) A beautiful and smart advertising executive living in the Midwest, Waverly is waiting to hear back from her free-spirited sister in NYC. She wants to be a good host, but is on edge and emotional throughout the night.

Andrew (30s, male) Manager of a bookstore in the Midwest, Andrew is struck by Waverly when she comes to the door for their blind date. Bookish yet charming, he wants to impress her.

Ron (35 to 50, male) Waverly’s next-door neighbor, a musician, who looks in on Waverly like a big brother. He’s both laid back and philosophical.

Nancy/Joyce Carol Oates (Sock Puppet) (20 to 30s, female) Ron’s girlfriend (or sometimes ex-girlfriend depending on interpretation). She is far more stable than Ron and often attempts to manage his chaos./ A surreal sock-puppet version of the famous author. The puppet appears in philosophical discussions about fate, free will, and literature.
